Grant Award Feature: Supporting Conservation at Amon Creek Natural Preserve
As part of our annual grant cycle, 3 Rivers Community Foundation is proud to support conservation work at Amon Creek Natural Preserve through a grant to Tapteal Greenway. This project reflects our ongoing commitment to protecting natural spaces, supporting recreation, and expanding environmental education across Benton and Franklin counties.
Located in Richland, Amon Creek Natural Preserve is a unique landscape that brings together wetland, riparian, and shrub-steppe habitats. It provides opportunities for recreation, wildlife observation, and education, while also serving as an important habitat for a wide range of species. As one of the region’s more accessible natural spaces, it plays a meaningful role in connecting people to the outdoors.
This grant supports targeted improvements to the preserve, including trail maintenance, removal of invasive vegetation, and updates to educational signage. These efforts help ensure that the preserve remains both environmentally sustainable and accessible for community use. By maintaining trails and restoring native habitats, this work strengthens both the ecological health of the area and the overall visitor experience.
Projects like this are made possible through the generosity of our donors and partners. Through initiatives like Trails for Tomorrow, we are able to expand support for conservation-focused work across our region. Community contributions during the campaign help fund projects like Amon Creek Natural Preserve, ensuring these spaces continue to serve both people and wildlife over time.
At its core, this work reflects a shared responsibility. By supporting conservation efforts today, we help protect the places that define our community and ensure they remain accessible, cared for, and valued for generations to come. Photo: Tapteal Gateway.
